When most people hear the words fundraiser and choir, they expect an evening of entertainment. While the DUO Singers certainly enjoy bringing music to our community, their performances represent something much greater than the songs they sing.
Every note helps tell the story of DUO—Do Unto Others—and our mission to provide immediate assistance to students in need throughout Santa Rosa County.
Last March, the DUO Singers performed at Stonebrook Golf Club during DUO’s Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, “The Case of the Guilty Golfer.” The evening was filled with laughter, mystery, great food, and wonderful music, but its true purpose was raising funds that help local school principals meet the immediate needs of children facing financial hardships.
Those funds become clothing for students who have outgrown everything they own.
They become eyeglasses that allow a child to see the classroom board clearly for the first time.
They provide shoes, school supplies, books, hygiene items, and other necessities that many of us take for granted.
One of the unique strengths of DUO is that assistance is provided quickly. Rather than navigating lengthy applications or waiting weeks for help, principals can immediately purchase what a student needs through the DUO Dollar program. That simple act of compassion often removes a barrier that allows a child to return their attention where it belongs—on learning.
The DUO Singers are proud to support that mission.
Made up of volunteers who believe in helping children succeed, they perform throughout the community to raise awareness of DUO and the difference local generosity makes in the lives of students. Every rehearsal, every performance, and every event is another opportunity to remind our community that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
